Nintendo showcased the Switch 2 behind closed doors at Gamescom.

The rumours about the successor to the Nintendo Switch are once again gaining momentum. Nintendo is said to have shown its new console to various studios behind closed doors at Gamescom.

According to Eurogamer, Nintendo gave presentations in Cologne to various studios and also showcased tech demos to highlight the power of the device.

One of the demos was reportedly an enhanced version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, designed to showcase the console’s more powerful specs. Eurogamer does note that this was a tech demo and likely only a portion of the game. There is no indication that an upgrade of Breath of the Wild for the successor to the Switch is in the works.

Interestingly, website VGC confirms Eurogamer’s story. The outlet even mentions that The Matrix Awakens Unreal Engine 5 tech demo from Epic Games could run on the device. The demo was initially shown to demonstrate the power of next-gen consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X. According to VGC, the demo even utilizes Nvidia DLSS upscaling technology and advanced ray tracing, making the successor to the Switch an incredibly powerful console.

Although Nintendo has not officially announced the new console, many fans expect the successor to the Nintendo Switch to arrive in 2024. The publisher has stated its intention to make the transition to the new console as smooth as possible.
