Top 5 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Video Games

I am a huge Turtles fan, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time topped My Top 5 Super Nintendo Games list and I talked very complimentary about the Shredder’s Revenge Dimension Shellshock DLC. I also had some fun with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade Wrath of the Mutants game that came out earlier this year. There have been some amazing TMNT games over the years and having been a fan since the 80s, I have played them all.

Grab a slice of pizza, yell cowabunga, and join me as I share my top 5 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Games!

Rather than calling in The Foot to deal with me if you do not like my list, be sure to leave your own one in the comments section.

Number 5

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist

It really sucks that it is impossible not to talk about The Hyperstone Heist without comparing it to the far superior Turtles in Time! That is because this is an epic TMNT game in its own right. It may have fewer levels, bosses and you can no longer throw guys into the screen. But this still kicks all kinds of Foot Clan ass! I like how there is an actual dedicated run button in this game, that is one thing that it has over Turtles in Time. When I did My Top 5 Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Games list, this was featured on there. I truly believe that this is one of the best games on the system and if Turtles in Time did not exist, I would probably have this higher on my list. It is a real shame that Konami did not put this on a bigger cartridge and expand upon it more.

Number 4

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Arcade Game

Konami struck gold with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game, they could not have captured the spirit of the show any better. Like most kids of the 80s and 90s, I threw a ton of money into this arcade machine, I actually have the Arcade 1Up version of this in my game room and it is pretty awesome. While I would agree that later Konami beat-em-ups like The Simpsons, X-Men, and Bucky o Hare offer more in terms of variety, there was no way I could leave this off my list. It is just a super fun game to play and it has a great soundtrack too. I do also want to shout out the NES version of this which is a really fun 8-bit take on this game that even has some extra content to make it a bit longer.

Number 3

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003 Animated Series)

I will die on the hill that states the first 2003 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game (for PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Xbox) is an amazing and the most underrated TMNT game ever. This is based on actual episodes of the show and mixes in footage from the shows to tell a great story. Each of the four Turtles will offer you a slightly different take on the story be it the way the story unfolds or in the way a boss will appear. You also get a Casey Jones and Master Splinter mode, each with their own take on the story too! Plus, there is a one-on-one fighting mode too. The gameplay is where this shines, you could just mash your way through this with one button, but you have three attack buttons and you can mix up your attacks for some fun combos. I freaking love this game and I have no idea why more people do not love it as much as I do.

Number 2

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge

I was actually messing around with the survival mode that was added in the Dimension Shellshock DLC just yesterday. I have put in 50 hours (something that my son cannot believe) into Shredder’s Revenge! This is just an amazing game, it has tons and I mean tons of fan service. If you grew up with the original 80s and early 90s cartoon, you will have a smile on your face the whole time you play this. It is also a rather deep beat-em-up. Each of the characters has their own stats and moves so they do play slightly differently. This was already an amazing game, but the Dimension Shellshock DLC made it even more totally tubular dude! I am sure most people would have this as their number one and if you do, you will hear no argument from me.

Number 1

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time

This is a weird one as I know that technically Shredder’s Revenge is a better game. It has more content, deeper fighting mechanics, and amazing visuals. However, Turtles in Time is number 2 on my all time favorite games list so it has to top this list. I am specifically talking about the Super Nintendo version as that is far better than the arcade version. This is a classic beat-em-up, but the way you can actually intentionally do the ground pound or the throwing of an enemy into the screen gives the gameplay way more depth than your standard beat-em-up. It has an epic soundtrack and the game also looks amazing too, truly one of the greatest beat-em-ups of all time, and one of these days I will buy a box to put my lose cartridge in, but from what I have seen the box goes for as much if not more than the cartridge!

There you go, dudes! Those are my top 5 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games. Let me know which games featuring the Green Machine are your favorites in the comments section.
