Star Wars: Outlaws delayed?

The release of the forthcoming Star Wars Outlaws could potentially be postponed to the next fiscal year. This information is gleaned from a recent financial report by Ubisoft, which mentions a ‘large game’ which will have its release delayed.

The overperformance in Q2 and the current positive momentum of Ubisoft’s brands build confidence for the rest of the year. The Company can therefore confirm its announced guidance of strong top line growth and non-IFRS operating income of approximately €400 million, without releasing the other large game it had initially planned to launch during the last quarter of the current fiscal year.
The Company has decided to launch this other large game in FY2024-25, so as to maximize its value creation.

Without explicitly identifying the title to which the developer and publisher are alluding, it becomes challenging to pinpoint the exact details. Speculation in circulation suggests it might pertain to the upcoming Star Wars game, but it’s important to note that as of the current writing, this remains unconfirmed.

A tweet from Kotaku’s senior reporter, Ethan Gach, suggests that the “large game” referenced in the report may indeed be Outlaws. If this information holds true, it implies the possibility of its release occurring sometime after April 2024.

Star Wars: Outlaws promises to be the ‘first open-world Star Wars game’.

Sad to see it delayed, but you can understand why Ubisoft made the decision. Gaming is a business and it is all about the bottom line when push comes to shove. Looking on the brightside, a delay means they can iron out any last minute bugs.

Well I don’t think it’s bad news, they want to delay it supposedly for their next fiscal year to boost their growth, this may make them more time to develop the video game and it may come out with a higher quality than it would have been if they released it on the date before planned.

The potential delay of Star Wars: Outlaws is certainly a piece of disappointing news for fans eagerly awaiting the first open-world Star Wars game. Let’s hope for an official confirmation soon and remain hopeful for an incredible gaming experience when it eventually arrives.

I will always say that a game should be delayed in order to get it right in the development and production than to rush it just because they want to meat deadline but it messes up the entire game. I don’t even understand why they rush to announce a game’s release date when they are not certain of everything?

Sincerely, I thought that this title would be released in the autumn of 2024, so I won’t be too upset if it takes longer than a year. But hey, sometimes the best things are best waited for. Great publish!
