Rockstar’s Abandoned Plans for GTA 5 DLC

Rockstar Games’ tumultuous year continues as the aftermath of a massive hack reveals scrapped plans for eight potential DLCs for their hit game, Grand Theft Auto V. Last year, the renowned game developer fell victim to a major data breach, exposing over 100GB of sensitive content related to various projects they had been working on. While the initial leak raised eyebrows, the latest revelations have cast an even more significant spotlight on the hidden treasures buried within GTA 5’s source code and the shelved sequel, Bully 2.

The leak appears to be connected to the same teenager who recently received a life sentence in a British hospital prison for orchestrating the breach. However, in a curious twist, some of the previously private content has now been made public in apparent response to the judicial decision handed down last week.

Delving into the depths of GTA 5’s source code, diligent gamers have uncovered Rockstar’s long-abandoned plans for up to eight distinct batches of downloadable content. These DLCs, unfortunately, never saw the light of day, possibly sidelined in favor of the lucrative GTA Online platform. It’s worth noting that rumours had previously circulated, suggesting that these DLCs were scrapped because GTA 5’s storyline was deemed “very, very complete.” Additionally, Rockstar was occupied with next-gen ports, Red Dead Redemption 2, and the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI.

The lost DLCs were said to include:

  1. SP Assassination Pack
  2. SP Manhunt Pack
  3. SP Norman Pack
  4. Agent Trevor
  5. Relationship Pack
  6. Enterprise Pack
  7. Prologue DLC
  8. LibertyV DLC

While some of these DLCs may sound more substantial than others, they all promised exciting content, including a potential reunion with the game’s protagonists and a return to Liberty City. The tantalizing prospect of a crossover with the infamous 2003 title, Manhunt, adds to the disappointment surrounding the unreleased content.

Grand Theft Auto V, developed by Rockstar North and released in 2013, marked the fifth installment in the Grand Theft Auto series. Set in the fictional state of San Andreas, the game followed the journeys of three criminals: Michael, Trevor, and Franklin, within a sprawling open-world environment. Renowned for its compelling storytelling and expansive design, GTA 5 became one of the best-selling video games of all time, earning praise for its ambitious scope and engaging gameplay.

The recent release of a trailer for GTA VI and its slated release on current-generation consoles in 2025 has further piqued the interest of fans worldwide.

While the recent source code leak has caused considerable chaos, rumours about the alleged GTA 6 voice actor are providing a temporary distraction for the community. Despite the setbacks and challenges faced by Rockstar Games, the devoted fanbase continues to await the future of the Grand Theft Auto series with bated breath.
